A good dark chocolate,
Not the cheap Hershey’s kind
A really good… dark… chocolate…
The kind that pauses a moment
Before melting slowly away
It’s never-sweet taste full, dark,
Mysterious as the depths of a soul
The chocolate melts away
Leaving behind only bitterness
Flooding every corner of your mouth.
Pervasive, inescapable,
Bitter as a lover’s angry words
When they’ve done you wrong,
But you feel guilty anyway…
A good dark chocolate…
Is smooth and strong
Like sex at three in the afternoon
When you’ve got no responsibilities.
But, like sex, it’s over too soon,
Nothing but a bitter memory.
I saw the word 'chocolate' while luking thru your gallery, and had to click - however different to what I thought it wud be, this is awesome. The words you use seem to frame chocolate as a sinister thing. The use of 'dark' seems to justify it.
I agree with tracar's comment about the metaphor.
But, like sex, it’s over too soon,

Yeah.. I'm sure most girls can understand.
An empty poem..but not empty in the bad way- Because it is obviously full of emotion--it is just that that emotion makes me feel empty and frightened... Do you need help/someone to talk to? I'm here for you, as always...
A deep and well written poem. Nice work
